Sanjiv Shah is based in Houston and is the global co-head of the energy, power & infrastructure investment banking group. Since starting his career with Piper Sandler in 2008, Shah has successfully closed over 250 projects encompassing M&A, strategic advisory, restructuring and capital markets, including more than 20 IPOs. He has played a pivotal role in several of the group’s largest transactions, frequently collaborating with many of the most prominent private equity firms and public companies in the industry. 
  
Before his tenure at Piper Sandler, Shah spent four years at Citigroup in London and Zurich, where he specialized in fixed income capital markets and the financial institutions group, respectively. In Zurich, he served as a corporate banker, focusing on the banking and insurance sectors, while in London, he worked as a product controller for the European global loans and leveraged finance groups. 
  
Since 2017, Shah has been a member of the advisory board for the Energy Workforce & Technology Council, formerly known as the Petroleum and Equipment & Services Association (“PESA”). This organization represents over 600 member companies in energy services, supply, manufacturing and drilling, and is dedicated to helping members safely, profitably and sustainably meet the increasing global energy demand.
  
In 2019, Shah received the Industry Innovator Award from PESA, which honors the member who has demonstrated exceptional engagement and leadership in navigating new directions for the sector. He has also garnered recognition from various prestigious publications including Hart Energy Oil & Gas Investor and the Houston Business Journal. Multiple transactions Shah has led have won Deal of the Year awards from the Association for Corporate Growth (“ACG”) and M&A Atlas Awards. Groupwide activity under Shah’s leadership has earned awards and prominent ranking recognition in various industry league tables, including Bloomberg, Global M&A Network and Mergermarket.
  
Shah is originally from Manchester, England and holds a bachelor's degree with honors in economics from the University of Manchester.
